In response to the high risk for lead poisoning in Springfield, Partners for a Healthier Community and  Square One are teaming up to address childhood lead poisoning prevention. The home visiting initiative will provide education and resources for Hampden County families with children who have elevated blood lead levels. Referrals will come from the MA Department of Public Health when a child is found to have elevated blood lead levels. All children in Massachusetts should have a lead test, starting at 9 months and again at ages 2, 3 (and 4 for high risk communities like Springfield).
